Denver, CO – The Approval Voting Party (http://approvalvotingparty.com/) applauds the New York Times for its approval vote for two out of the dozen Presidential candidates vying for the Democratic Party nomination.

“I’m encouraged by the Times’ acknowledgement that, just as black and white thinking doesn’t always work in the real world, voting for more than one option is sometimes the most logical choice,” says Approval Voting Party co-founder and Vice Chairman Blake Huber. “If an editorial board sees the practical value of having more than one option while still making a firm choice, certainly voters across America, with their common sense, will see the same practicality.”

“I couldn’t agree more with Blake, and certainly hope the Times will promote what it’s now preaching and cover Approval Voting in detail,” adds Approval Voting Party co-founder and Chairman Frank Atwood. “One of the many ways this country has been sent careening down a train track with two rails splitting away from each other in opposite directions is an insistence on only giving voters one vote. Sometimes two, three or more votes send a more accurate election signal. By using Approval Voting voters would be nominating and electing candidates that have the broadest popular support.”
